Billy Elliot - The Musical

About the Show: Featuring 10 Tony award nominations and music by Elton John, Billy Elliot is a dance and music masterpiece. Set against the background of the 1984 England miners strike, this story follows the character of 10-year-old Billy as he discovers his passion for dance and battles against all odds to make his dream of auditioning for the Royal Ballet School a reality. This touching production is rated PG (for some adult themes and language) and is most enjoyed by audiences ages 10 and up.

 

Performances held at the Lakeville Area Arts Center. Show runs approximately 2.75 hrs with a 15min intermision.

This activity is funded, in part, by an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund.

Billy Elliot

played by Gavin Nienaber

Gavin Nienaber is excited to return to CCT for Billy Elliot. A 6th grader at Minnesota Connections Academy, this is Gavin's ninth show with CCT. Tarzan the Musical (Young Tarzan) and Peter Pan the Musical (Michael) are just two of many great memories with CCT. Gavin has also performed at Old Log Theater, Theatre in the Round, Seasons Dinner Theater, Stages in Hopkins, Children's Theatre Company and The Guthrie. When not acting, singing or dancing, he likes to make Lego short films and play chase with his dog Drake. Special acknowledgement to Rick Vogt and Ballet Royale Minnesota for their patience and exceptional training. Gavin also wants to thank family and friends for their support, especially his learning coach and chauffeur, David (aka, Dad). 

Michael Caffery

played by Alexander Michuda

Alex Michuda is thrilled to join CCT in their fall production of Billy Elliot! Alex’s past theater experiences include; Artful Dodger in Oliver! (Buffalo Community Theater), Oompa Loompa in Willy Wonka the Musical (Morris Park Players), Turkey Boy/Ignorance in A Christmas Carol (Lyric Arts Theater) and Sam in Sasquatched! The Musical (Imagined Theater). Alex sings at school and church and takes dance lessons at Kay Marie & Carol’s school of dance. Alex’s hobbies include acting in short films around town. Alex loves studying geology in school. Alex would like to thank his family for all their love and support!

Debbie Wilkinson

played by Sally-Anne Hune

Sally-Anne Hunt is excited to make her CCT debut with Billy Elliot. When she is not busy being a 7th grader in White Bear Lake she can be found climbing trees or reading a book (at the same time occasionally). Sally-Anne has been blessed to be a part of many theater productions over the last three years. Some of her favorites have been Christmas Carol (Guthrie Theater), Annie (Lakeshore Players) and Les Mis (Ashland Productions). Stages Theater and Seasons Dinner Theater are also at the top of her list. She also enjoys working on camera in films and commercials. Great big thanks to CCT for this great opportunity and a special thanks to the wonderful cast, you are all super stars.

Dad (Jackie Elliot)

played by David Beck-O'Sullivan

David Beck-O'Sullivan is excited to return to CCT after playing The Old Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz.  David studied theatre at the University of Minnesota before joining the CLIMB Theatre Company. David has also performed with The Minnesota Shakespeare Company bringing The Bard to a park near you. David loves making theatre a family affair and is thrilled to be sharing the Billy Elliot stage with his wife, Kelly, and their youngest son, Liam.

Tony Elliot

played by Dan Prather

Dan Prather is so excited to be making his debut with Children's Castle Theater. He has been doing theater ever since his first production in 7th grade of Pinocchio. His recent credits include The Little Mermaid (Prince Eric), Rocky Horror Picture Show (Brad), Les Miserables (Combeferre). He has Studied at both Luther College and Century College for Vocal Performance. He currently lives in Falcon Heights, MN and would like to dedicate this performance to his wonderfully supportive family.

George

played by David Nienaber

David Nienaber is surprised and thrilled to join the talented cast of Billy Elliot. This is David’s seventh show with CCT. As Gavin Nienaber’s personal learning coach, chauffeur and Dad, David can often be found hanging out in theater lobbies and dance studios throughout the Twin Cities. On most days, you’ll find his fur-kid (Drake) by his side. In his spare time, David has been known to visit his dentist and rheumatologist. The set designer has recommended this be his last show with CCT. 

Mrs. Wilkinson

played by Meg Krekeler

Meg Krekeler is thrilled to join CCT for the first time for this amazing show! Meg has appeared on the Eagan Summer Theater stage in many productions including Cinderella (Evil Stepmother), Shrek: The Musical (Wicked Witch), Beauty and the Beast (Wardrobe) and The Little Mermaid (Princess/Maid). She has also performed with Minneapolis Musical Theater in Jerry Springer the Opera and with the University of MN Opera in Fallstaff. When Meg is not on stage she works as a graphic designer for Self Esteem Brands, a speech coach at Lakeville North HS, and as a mom. Meg would like to thank Annie and Sarah for “nudging” her to audition, and her family for their love and support of her passion for performing.

Grandma (Edna)

played by Kelly Beck-O'Sullivan

Kelly Beck-O'Sullivan is delighted to be back on the stage after a long, long hiatus. This is Kelly's first show with CCT (though she has been a CCT parent for years). Kelly has performed with The Children's Theatre Company, New Classic Theatre, and The History Theatre. In her spare time Kelly enjoys writing and recently read one of her essays at the Listen to Your Mother show. Kelly is excited to join her husband, David, and her youngest son, Liam, in this production.

Dead Mum

played by Annie Estes

Annie Estes is thrilled to be returning to the CCT stage for the 8th time. Her favorite CCT roles of the past include, Kala in Disney's Tarzan and Ida in Honk!  She most recently performed as Mrs. Potts in Eagan Summer Theaters production of Beauty and the Beast. In addition to performing on the stage, she's also a Director for Expressions Theater. Annie wishes to thank her friends and family for continuing to support her love of the arts! 

Mr. Braithwaite, Miner

played by Jakob Gomez

Jakob Gomez is extremely excited to make his CCT debut as Mr. Braithwaite. His previous work includes Eagan Summer Community Theatre's The Little Mermaid (Scuttle) and at MSU, Mankato he was Father McKuen in A Plague of Angels, and a Knight in Spamalot. He would like to thank his family and friends for all of the love and support they have given him!

Alison Summers, Julie Hope

Ashlyn Johnson is excited to perform with CCT for the first time. She has been dancing with Youth Dance Ensemble since 2012, and joined the company in The Nutcracker tour in 2013, and 2014. Ashlyn would like to thank her parents for helping her follow her dreams. She would also like to thank Dixie Rairamo of Youth Dance Ensemble for years of great dance instruction, lessons on stage presence, and always expecting the best of her, and her family for all their love and support. 

Tracy Atkinson

played by Mallory Stack

Mallory Stack is excited to be in her first show with CCT. Mallory has also performed as Bouncy Bear in Noodle Rat Rotten Hat with the Prior Lake Players. Mallory has two years of dance experience with Shana's Dance Studio. She is also a member of the Joyful Light Children's Choir at St. Michael Catholic Church. Susan Parks, Angela Roberts

played by Makena Skjevland

Makena returns to CCT as the ballet girl Susan Parks. She has also performed in Honk! (goose), The Wizard of Oz (munchkin), and Yo Vikings! (Mrs. Mukhergee's student), all CCT productions. When Makena is not practicing or performing in a play she is listening, singing along, and dancing to pop music or hanging out with her friends. Makena  wants to thank family and friends who (combined) has attended almost every performance.

Keeley Gibson

Annalie is excited to play a ballet girl in Billy Elliot. Annalie loves to sing, act and dance. She has 6 years of dance experience, including jazz, hip hop and lyrical. Billy Elliot is her first play with CCT. She has performed in four other plays including Annie and Elf: The Musical. Annalie would like to thank her family and friends for their support.

Karen Davidson

played by Vanessa Fabry

Vanessa Fabry is very happy to return to CCT for Billy Elliot. Vanessa has 8 years of dance experience with Danceworks where she studied many forms of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. She also has been tap dancing her heart out with Keane Sense of Rhythm in St. Paul for more than a year now. Vanessa performed once before with CCT in Peter Pan (mermaid & caroler) and has also acted with The Play’s The Thing. When not on stage, Vanessa loves to cuddle with Snickers and Oreo, her beloved guinea pigs. She wants to thank her parents for supporting her in everything she does.

Georgia Huebsch is excited to make her CCT debut in Billy Elliot! Georgia has trained in ballet, tap, jazz & contemporary for 8 years at JAMM Dance Co where she dances competitively. She'd like to thank her
family and friends for their all of their support and a special thank you to her teachers at JAMM, Tianna from Ballet Royale and her music teacher Mrs. McNamara.

Margaret Gormiley

Elliot Dickson is excited to be making her stage debut in CCT's production of Billy Elliot. Elliot is very creative and loves to draw and play the piano. She spends time with her two younger sisters acting and using her imagination. She participates in her school choir and also plays golf. Elliot is thrilled to be taking the stage for the very first time and very thankful to her friends, family and Billy Elliot cast for all their support!

Ava Mingo is excited to be in her first show with CCT. Ava has 7 years of dance experience with JAMM Dance Companie including jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary and competition dance. Ava loves to dance and is thrilled at this opportunity to take the stage as a dancer and an actor. In addition to dancing Ava loves to read, watch movies and play with her crazy cat, Chloe. Ava wants to thank her family, friends and dance teachers for all of their support.

Sam Howson started acting with CCT when he was 14 and was lucky enough to play the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. Since then he has been in many, many other shows with CCT including; Jack FrostPeter Pan, Homer Price, Cinderella, Little Shop of HorrorsHonk!Tarzan and The Jungle Book. Sam is thrilled to be a part of the amazing cast in Billy Elliot. "CCT took me in and became my second family. I have so many freinds and have made countless memories."

Jessica Harkness is excited to be in her sixth show with CCT. Growing up, Jessica had a love for music, singing and theater. She would like to thank her family, especially her daughter Jayda for their encouragement and support.

Jeremy Sundheim is excited to make his CCT debut in Billy Elliot! After sitting in audiences forever, Jeremy decided it would be more fun to be on the stage two years ago and hasn't looked back since! Past favorite roles include Judge Hathorne in The Crucible (Locally Grown Theatre), Society Max in Guys and Dolls (Black Dirt Theater), and Crutchley in Once Upon a Trial (Black Dirt Theater). Jeremy is forever grateful to his family for their encouragement and support, especially his wife, Margaret, who keeps the home fires burning when he is at rehearsal and performances!

Miner

Joe is excited to be working with Children’s Castle Theater again. Joe Graduated From the University of Minnesota in Duluth with a BA in Theatre and a Minor in Communications. In the last 2 years, this marks the 10th production he has been in and the 5th with CCT. CCT is like another family for him. If he never joined CCT, he doesn't think he would have gone on to have so many great theater experiences. Some of which include his breakout role in Honk! as Drake, Christmas Belles (Justin), Bedroom Farce (Malcolm), Once Upon a Mattress (Dauntless), 7 Brides for 7 Brothers (Caleb) and The Wizard of Oz (The Tin Man). When Joe is not involved in Theater, his day job is working for the Postal Service delivering mail. So he’s a mailman during the day, and an actor at night. Or you could say he’s acting all day and the role he’s played the most was a mailman. Anyway though, Joe always feels welcome with CCT, and has a great feeling about Billy Elliot

Jayda Richards is excited to return to the stage for Billy Elliot. She has performed in 11 shows with CCT. Her favorite role was when she played Penny in Honk!. In her spare time,Jayda loves to sing,hang out with friends and take road trips.

Michelle Pflughoeft is thrilled to be a part of her third CCT production! Michelle has previously performed in CCT’s productions of Honk! (Maureen) and Yo Vikings! (Mrs. Mukherjee). Chrissy Howson is so excited to be a part of Billy Elliot. The talent in the show is truly remarkable. Chrissy has previously done several shows with CCT starting with Jack Frost. Chrissy started on a whim as something to share and do with her kids. "The beauty of this theater company is the additional family that I gained in doing so."

Ari Winslow is very excited to be in Billy Elliot. She's been doing CCT for six years now and has been in several plays with other theater companies before that. She loves to sing and act. Ari sings all the time at home and in choir. She loves the support from her family and friends and the other Billy Elliot cast members!

Lily Ellenburg is excited to return to CCT for Billy Elliot. She has performed in 3 other shows with CCT including; Baba Yaga, Yo Vikings!, and The Wizard of Oz. Lily has also performed in shows with Great Theater. She has 6 years of dance experience with St. Cloud Just For Kix. Lily is currently a student in high school. When not acting she likes to play piano and read.

Amy LaVallie is so excited to be involved with CCT again in this production of Billy Elliot. She grew up in a theater household with parents who are directors and tech directors themselves. After performing in well over 20 productions throughout her youth, she is having so much fun returning to the theater scene with her son, Micah. Other CCT shows include: Yo Vikings!The Wizard of Oz, and Chateau Cirque. She is so thankful to CCT for including her and Micah in this wonderful CCT family!

Samira Awad is excited to perform  in her second show with CCT. She loves Billy Elliot and is happy to have the chance to (finally) be in it.  She has performed in many plays, such as The Wizard of Oz and Bye Bye Birdie. Samira is a huge lover of music and has been singing since she was just a little girl. She plays saxophone and guitar. When not performing, she likes to cook, write and draw.

Miranda Bondeson is excited to perform in her second show with CCT. Miranda has 11 years of dance experience with The Dance Connection; including Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Lyrical. She has performed in shows with Homeward Bound Theatre Company, Applause! Broadway and school productions. Miranda is currently studying Acting through Talent Development USA. When not performing Miranda likes to play volleyball.

Liam Beck-O'Sullivan is thrilled to be back at CCT for Billy Elliot. This is Liam's fourth show with CCT. His previous roles include Misha in Baba Yaga, Ollie in Yo, Vikings!, and a Munchkin in The WIzard of Oz. Liam studies ballet at Ballet Royale and was a Mouse in the 2015 Twin Cities Ballet production of A Minnesota Nutcracker. Liam also plays piano, loves reading, and is a LEGO-maniac. He thinks it's awesome that his Mom and Dad are in Billy Elliot with him. 

Tall Boy (Kevin)

Christian Howson started with CCT when he as in 4th grade after seing how much fun his brother (Sam Howson) was having with CCT. Since than, Christian has performed in Peter Pan, Homer Price, Jack Frost, Tarzan and The Wizard of Oz with CCT. Christian enjoyed the atmosphere of the cast and crew and kept coming back. Christian is in 10th grade now and is honored to be a part of Billy Elliot. "I truly love everything about CCT."

Jackson Solinger is excited for his first play with CCT. He got the acting bug from his father, and it was developed with camps at The Children’s Theater Company where the kids “wrote” the plays. He loves to sing, and he has taken four years of hip hop at a local studio. He’d like to thank his mom and dad for their support.

Taylor Elsen is excited to be in her first show with CCT. Taylor has 5 years of dance experience with Just for Kix competing in Kick, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop.  She is also a member of the Farmington High School JV Dance Team. She has performed in Annie and Mixed-up Fairy Tales with The Plays the Thing Productions and enjoys being involved in the theater. In her spare time Taylor likes to dance, sing and hang out with friends.

Luke Holmes is excited to be in his first show with CCT. He has performed in shows with Black Dirt Theater, and Prairie Fire Theater. When not acting, Luke loves to read, play piano, and participate in dog rescue efforts. Luke would like to thank his family, including his two dogs, for their love and support of his passion!

This is Madelyn Katzenberger's 4th play and she loves to perform with all the wonderful friends that she has made in theatre. Mady’s favorite past times are singing, making music video’s, playing with her friends, and spending time with her mom, dad, sister and brother.

Molly Knudsen is excited to be in her first CCT production. She has been figure skating since she was 4 and has placed in skating competitions for the past 2 years. She's played soccer the past 3 years and is taking up hockey this year. In her free time she likes to be with her friends, jump on the trampoline and do photo shoots with her brothers. She wants to thank CCT, her family, friends and audiences for the opportunity to be in Billy Elliot.

Micah LaVallie is excited to return to CCT for this production of Billy Elliot. At barely 6 years old, Micah is passionate about performing and this is the fifth show he has been involved with. Other productions include; Seussical Jr (Valley Middle School), Aladdin's Lamp (Giant step theater), Yo Vikings! (CCT), and The Wizard of Oz (CCT). He is grateful to CCT for these amazing opportunities and to his family for all their love and support!

Abbie Kate is thrilled to be in her first show with CCT. Abbie Kate has 5 years of dance expeirence with Premeire Dance Academy; including tap, jazz, lir and compeition dance. This is her first opportunity to take the stage. Abbie Kate loves to do gymnastics, act and play with her pet rabbit Delgato. She would like to thank her parents and all the Billy Elliot audience members for all their support.
